This is a summary of the Pensioners' Dental Services Plan offered to eligible retired members of the public service or of a
participating agency or entity. It does not contain all
details or describe all limits, restrictions or exclusions. For additional information, please refer to the detailed version of the
Pensioners' Dental Services Plan or contact the
Public Service Pension Centre (Pension Centre).
The Pensioners' Dental Services Plan is designed to cover specific dental services and supplies that are not covered under your provincial/territorial
health care or dental care plan. It is contributory and is completely separate from the dental care plan for public service employees.
To apply for coverage, you must submit a signed application form, available from the Pension Centre.
If your completed application is sent within 60 days of your pension effective date, coverage takes effect on that date.
If your completed application is received more than 60 days after your pension effective date, coverage takes effect on the 1st day of
the 2nd month following receipt of your application.
Examination and diagnosis (recall oral examination limited to once every 9 months)
Routine preventive services (dental cleaning, polishing and fluoride application limited to once every 9 months; oral hygiene instruction
limited to once per calendar year)
Minor restorative
Endodontics (root canal)
Periodontics (treatment of gum disease)
Minor prosthodontic services (repairs, adjustments, rebasing and relining of removable dentures once every 36 months)
Oral surgery
Adjunctive services (anaesthesia in connection with oral surgery and emergency services)
Major Services
(50%)
Major restorative services (crowns once every 60 months, inlays)
Complete or partial dentures, fixed bridges (existing appliance must be at least 5 years old and not serviceable)
